Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is the Chairman Emeritus and co-founder of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), a global Muslim think-tank which aims at promoting educational reform as a means to better humanity. He was also Malaysia’s Minister of Education from 1986 to 1991, during which he introduced the National Education Philosophy in 1988 to replace the system inherited from the British colonial, in addition to undertaking substantial reform to improve the educational system. From 1993 to 1998, he served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, during and after which he held various financial portfolios internationally including the Chairman of World Bank Development Committee in 1997, the Advisory Board member of Generation Investment Management Group LLP of the United Kingdom in 2005, as well as the Board of Director in Bahrain’s Al Barakah Banking Group in 2007. He has published a number of papers and books, as well as giving forewords to several books, with the latest paper published in Journal of Democracy titled Confronting Authoritarianism. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was named as Best Finance Minister in Asia by AsiaMoney in 1996 and recently ranked number 20 as the most influential politician in top World 500 Muslims 2021 by the Jordanian Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISSC). The subject of humane economy is very dear to his heart that it was discussed specifically as a chapter in his magnum opus, The Asian Renaissance.

Mr. Nik Mohd Yusoff Nik Ismail is the Chairperson of Forum Ekonomi Manusiawi (FEM). Besides, he currently serves as the Honorary Advisor of Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce (DPIM) and Deputy Chairperson of DPIM Selangor Chapter. He holds a credential conferred by Selangor Islamic Affairs Council (MAIS) since 2008. He had vast experience in human capital training and development as the Executive Coaching Certified Trainer and Certified Trainer recognized by the Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia. He has involved as a trainer in more than 100 outdoor and indoor training programmes for numerous organizations in team-building and human capital development aspects.

Prof. Dr. Jomo K S is Senior Adviser at the Khazanah Research Institute, Fellow of the Academy of Science, Malaysia, Emeritus Professor of the University of Malaya, and Visiting Fellow at the Initiative for Policy Dialogue, Columbia University. He was Founder-Chair of International Development Economics Associates (IDEAs), UN Assistant Secretary General for Economic Development (2005-2012), and Assistant Director General, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) (2012-2015). He received the 2007 Wassily Leontief Prize for Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Thought.

Prof. Dr. Tariqullah Khan is currently the Professor of Islamic Economics and Finance at Istanbul Zaim University. Formerly, he was the President of International Association for Islamic Economics (2011-2019). He was also the Professor and Program Director for Islamic Finance at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar Foundation (2009-2020). He also served as visiting scholar at Stanford University (2017) as well as at Harvard University (2011). In 2005 to 2009, he worked as Division Chief, Islamic Banking and Finance at Islamic Research and Training Institute of Islamic Development Bank Group. After starting as an academic in Gomal University, Pakistan (1976-1981) and International Islamic University Islamabad (1981-1983), for a long time in his early career, he worked as the Principal, Lead, Senior Researcher and Researcher at Islamic Research and Training Institute of Islamic Development Bank Group (1983-2009). Apart from patronizing and spearheading policymaking, institution building and establishment of Islamic finance industry on sound and sustainable footing, he has written several papers, chapters, and books in many research areas of Islamic economics and finance as an established academic over the years. His current areas of interest are healing ecology through economy, climate change and greening finance, Islamic financial services and Islamic economy and digital transformation.

Prof. Emeritus Khoo Boo Teik was born, bred and schooled in George Town, Penang, Malaysia, before studying at universities in USA and Australia. He is Professor Emeritus, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo, and Research Fellow Emeritus, Institute of Developing Economies, Chiba, Japan. He is the author of Paradoxes of Mahathirism: An Intellectual Biography of Mahathir Mohamad and, most recently, The Making of Anwar Ibrahim’s “Humane Economy”.

Dato‘ Freida Pilus is an established and renowned educator. She pioneered private school education and has been instrumental in its transformation into one of the fastest-growing economic sectors of the Malaysian service industry today. She founded Cempaka Education Group, which leads through continued innovation in its education offerings. Cempaka Education comprises physical and virtual campuses, and serves students from the age of eighteen months upwards. Its education verticals extend from early childhood development, K12 education (Malaysian, British and International Baccalaureate curricula) to teacher training and education consultancy.

Dato’ Sri Steve Yap is the President of Federation of Complementary and Natural Medical Association (FCNMAM). He is also the President of The Association of Nutritional Medicine Practitioners, Malaysia (ANMP). In the past 20 years, he made significant contribution towards improving the landscape of evidence-based healthcare in Malaysia by his practice and active participation various technical committees within Ministry of Health.

Dr. Hafas Furqani is a lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Ar-Raniry State Islamic University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia since 2009. He was a researcher at International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) Malaysia (2012-2016). Besides, he was the International Relations Division Officer of Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) (2015–2019). He has published numerous academic works such as book chapters, journal articles and articles in various magazines and newspapers. He received the Highly Commended Paper Award, Emerald Literari Awards in 2019.

Prof. Dr. Saadiah Mohamad is a former professor of Economics at the Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM. She has written many papers, especially on exchange rate modelling, exchange rate regimes and Islamic Finance. She had vast experience in conducting research under World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington DC (2001). She  was awarded a one year visiting research fellowship at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, University of Oxford (2015-2016) to pursue  her  research entitled “Expanding the Universe: A Phenomenological Investigation into Islamic Financial Models as Tools for Social Innovation”. She is also one of the co-founders of Khadijah International Waqf Foundation (KIWF), dedicated to the application of Islamic Finance and wealth management to serve women and children. In 2020, she co-founded Forum Ekonomi Manusiawi (FEM) together with a number of community activists and currently serving as its Deputy Chairperson.

Dr. Hendri Tanjung is the Deputy Director of Post Graduate School, Ibn Khaldun University in Bogor, Indonesia. He had extensive experience in teaching and lecturing on Islamic Economics, Management and Finance in numerous higher education institutions in Indonesia, Singapore and Pakistan. Besides, he is a member of Indonesia Waqaf Board (BWI), Advisory Board Member, Indonesian Council of Ulama, Bogor, Indonesia and currently serving as the Chairperson of International Council of Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE), Indonesia Chapter. He has published a number of academic works such as books, research papers, translated books alongside articles in various newspapers and magazines. He received the Best Paper Award in the International Seminar on Islamic Economic and Business (ISIEB) that was held at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta in 2018.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Redzuan Othman is the Deputy Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE). Moreover, he currently serves as the President and Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Selangor (UNISEL). He had vast experience in teaching and lecturing on Election and Democracy in Malaysia, Islam and Politics in Malaysia, History and Politics of Middle East and Islamic Thought and Civilisation. He formerly served as a professor at Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya. He has published numerous academic works such as books, research papers, journal articles, conference proceedings and chapter in books. He received Best Intellectual Book Award for his book entitled ‘Sekularisme dan Proses Demokrasi di Turki : Pemerkasaan Islam dan Kepimpinan Erdogan’ in 2015 MAPIM-MOHE Award Ceremony.
